Back in control

December 27, 2012

Recently a party of three Tigard Christian Scientists traveled down to Portland from Mt. Hood after a day on the mountain for skiing and winter recreation.  The highway cleared up after some miles of snowpack on the road and the driver understandably felt that it was safe to increase speed a bit.  Suddenly, somewhere after passing through Welches and before reaching Sandy, the car’s brakes locked and the vehicle began swerving “out of control” after hitting a patch of black ice.

One member of the party stated out loud, “God is here!” and another gave immediate instruction to the driver about handling both steering wheel and brakes.  The erratic trajectory of the vehicle had continued for about five seconds but stopped suddenly after both this appeal to God and intelligent expression of what to do came forth simultaneously.

There could be no question but that holy protection from harm was demonstrated in this situation.  All members of the party are grateful for safety on that recent December night.
